"...in a market now flooded with in-ear Headphones for iPods and other MP3 players—ranging from cheaply built/sounding (Apple's own earbuds, for example) to higher-priced audiophile buds from companies like Shure and Bose—not only do the Miles Davis Tribute 'phones sound as good as the press sheet says they do, they're hands-down amongst the most comfortable buds on the market." - John Kelman, AllAboutJazz.com Read Full Review

"The Miles Davis Tribute in-ear headphones incorporate resonance-free metal bodies surrounding high-quality miniature speaker drivers. The gold/brass finish echoes the look of Davis’ trumpet and adds a brazen touch of style that jazz’s flamboyant Prince of Darkness surely would have appreciated."

Monster has designed these special edition in-ear monitors to be just as masterful and musically arresting as the genius that inspired them.

Frontmen And Sidemen Take Center Stage
Jazz is about musicianship and so are these tribute headphones, which have been designed to showcase your favorite musicians in every way. From Mingus’s upright to Jaco’s electric, bass players finally get their due. Whether it’s the delicacy of Paul Motian or the explosiveness of Tony Williams, drummers sound remarkably present. Pianists like Bill Evans and Herbie Hancock float through the soundstage with incredible immediacy. And of course, the sax men, from Bird to Trane to Cannonball -- it’s like they’re playing right there in front of you.

I have been a professional audio engineer and musician for over 20 years. The quality surpasses the professional high-end in-ear monitors I have been using for years. If you are serious about music and quality sound, look no further. The response is flat and I heard frequencies reproduced throughout the entire spectrum with accuracy, balance and clarity.

I bought this to replace my Shure E4Cs. Shures served me well and I love the comfort of their foam tips.

I discovered these at an airport store and compared Shures to different Turbine Pros an settled on this one for a number of reasons:
      1. Great overall range: Coppers have better base, but these were the best sound quality among the monster options.
      2. Unusual one-time replacement warranty: at this price range, you are going to take care of your eat phones. But the promise of this warranty helped me make up my mind over the Shure 530s
      3. Nice options in the package: I like the CD, carryig case options, and the tips so i could find the best fit. That said, best fit was 5th try and I likely won't use the others.

Since I got them, I find myself listening to more music on the go and enjoying it more no find suddle nuances like the pianists breath at a complex moment, or the deeper resonance of the Jazz singer's vocals.

      Now potential improvements:
      - I would have loved Shure's audio controls. These isolate sound pretty well too, at least outside of loud public transports.

Miles is god, finally an apt ear piece to fit his amazing music. I thought the music output would be focused around the horn, but when I heard the bass oh man, it was even more brilliant.

             SAFETY TIPS

Important Monster® Performance and Safety Tips
            Listen Responsibly

To avoid hearing damage, make sure that the volume on your music player is turned down before connecting your headphones. After placing headphones in your ears, gradually turn up the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.

Noise levels are measured in decibels (dB), exposure to any noise at or above 85 dB can cause gradual hearing loss.

Monitor your use; hearing loss is a function of loudness versus time. The louder it is, the less time you can be exposed to it. The softer it is, the more time you can listen to it. Refer to the chart* below.

This decibel (dB) table compares some common sounds and shows how they rank in potential harm to hearing.
            SoundNoise Level (dB)Effect
            Whisper30Very quiet
Quiet Office50-60Comfortable hearing levels are under 60 dB

Rock Concerts (varies)110-140Threshold of pain begins around 125dB
"....a typical person can safely listen to an iPod for 4.6 hours per day at 70% volume."
"....knowing the levels one is listening to music at, and for how long is extremely important."

Get the most out of your equipment and enjoy great audio performance even at safe levels.

            Use Responsibly

Do not use headphones when it's unsafe to do so - while operating a vehicle, crossing streets, or during any activity or in an environment where your full attention to your surroundings is required.

It's dangerous to drive while wearing headphones, and in many places, illegal because it decreases your chances of hearing life-saving sounds outside of your vehicle, such as another car's horn and emergency vehicle sirens.

Please avoid wearing your headphones while driving. Use one of Monster's FM transmitters to listen to your mobile media devices instead.

Learn how to establish a safe listening level and review other important safety guidelines from the Consumer Electronics Association at www.ce.org and the Deafness Research Foundation at www.drf.org.
