George Benson Super Disc

George Benson George Benson Super Disc Features Monster Music presents to you the amazingly crisps and dynamic HDS High Definition Surround Sound SuperDisc Songs and Stories, George’s second SuperDisc, following up the multi-GRAMMY® winning Givin’ It Up, with Al Jarreau.

"We decided to go to some of the world’s greatest songwriters and ask them to write something new for George," says album producer, John Burk. "The special guests on this album are the songwriters."

With this concept in mind, an all star line up of songwriters lent their huge musical talents to the album. Legends like Smokey Robinson, Bill Withers, and Rod Temperton, just to name a few, wrote new songs with the purpose of putting them into the very capable hands of George Benson.

But’s that’s not to say that you won’t hear musical genius playing with George on Songs and Stories. Some of the most coveted musicians in the music industry joined George to lay down the tracks live. Artists like Paul Jackson, Jr., Lee Ritenour, Tom Scott, Wah Wah Watson, Toninho Horta and Ray Parker, Jr on guitars. Rod Temperton and David Paich on keyboards. Gerald Albright and Tom Scott on sax. Steve Porcaro on synthesizer. And Patti Austin on background vocals.

"We had what we call in the music industry the A team. I call them an A plus," explains George. "We did it the right way. We went in live, and that’s where you get the vibe. We got in the studio and started bouncing off each other and saw what the potential was and the magic started happening right away."

SuperDisc: An Unparalleled Listening Experience
Thanks to the Monster Music’s proprietary HDS surround sound mix on this disc, you’re going to be able to enjoy this amazing musical collaboration in ways you never could with an ordinary CD.

"I believe we've delivered to you a phenomenal music product. With HDS surround, you can place yourself right in the middle of the action. It's like the music is floating," explains Head Monster Noel Lee, who personally worked on the mix, and is a long time friend of George’s. "You can hear the music like you’ve never experienced it before."

The combination of masterful songwriting, unmatched musicianship and cutting edge surround sound technology makes Songs and Stories an experience you’re sure to enjoy over and over again.

About George Benson
Even before the recording of his first album, at just 21 years old, George Benson has relished the role of using his now legendary musical gifts to entertaining his audience.

"As a kid I sang, danced, and played the ukulele in a nightclub. I've had the pleasure of playing with the baddest jazz cats on the planet. But that doesn't change my desire to entertain folks. That's really who I am."

His love for the audience and desire to get them moving to his music, coupled with his masterful musicianship, have resulted in a storied career.

Noel Lee's Quote Already successful in the Jazz world, George’s rise to bonafide superstardom started with the 1976 release of Breezin." It hit #1 on the Pop, R&B and Jazz charts, and featured the top 10 Pop hit, "This Masquerade." Since then, George has scored numerous chart hits, including the smashes, "On Broadway," "Give Me The Night" and "Turn Your Love Around."

George has enjoyed huge commercial success, industry awards—including 10 GRAMMYS®—the adoration of millions of fans and, perhaps most complimentary to his musical prowess, collaborations with many of the all-time legends of the music world. All have been instrumental in fulfilling his lifelong passion to entertain the masses.

 SAFETY TIPS

Important Monster® Performance and Safety Tips
Listen Responsibly

To avoid hearing damage, make sure that the volume on your music player is turned down before connecting your headphones. After placing headphones in your ears, gradually turn up the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.

Noise levels are measured in decibels (dB), exposure to any noise at or above 85 dB can cause gradual hearing loss.

Monitor your use; hearing loss is a function of loudness versus time. The louder it is, the less time you can be exposed to it. The softer it is, the more time you can listen to it. Refer to the chart* below.

This decibel (dB) table compares some common sounds and shows how they rank in potential harm to hearing.
SoundNoise Level (dB)Effect
Whisper30Very quiet
Quite Office50-60Comfortable hearing levels are under 60 dB
Vacuum Cleaner, Hair Dryer70Intrusive; interferes with telephone conversations
Food Blender85-9085 dB is the level at which hearing damage (8 hrs.) begins
Garbage Truck, Cement Mixer100No more than 15 minutes of unprotected exposure recommended for sounds between 90-100 dB
Power Saw, Drill/Jackhammer110Regular exposure to sound over 100 dB of more than 1 minute risks permanent hearing loss
Rock Concerts (varies)110-140Threshold of pain begins around 125dB
"....a typical person can safely listen to an iPod for 4.6 hours per day at 70% volume."
"....knowing the levels one is listening to music at, and for how long is extremely important."

Use Responsibly

Do not use headphones when it's unsafe to do so - while operating a vehicle, crossing streets, or during any activity or in an environment where your full attention to your surroundings is required.

It's dangerous to drive while wearing headphones, and in many places, illegal because it decreases your chances of hearing life-saving sounds outside of your vehicle, such as another car's horn and emergency vehicle sirens.

Please avoid wearing your headphones while driving. Use one of Monster's FM transmitters to listen to your mobile media devices instead.

Learn how to establish a safe listening level and review other important safety guidelines from the Consumer Electronics Association at www.ce.org and the Deafness Research Foundation at www.drf.org.
