Comments about M1000 HDTV HDMI Cable:
I use monster cables all way from my Guitar, PA, 5.1 SS, PS3, and more. I have tried many cables over the years that say they are pretty much the same and cost (like the guy from ny said) 2 bucks.[...] Monster cables outperform just about every cable out on the market. Anyone whos fool enough to believe a 2 dollar cable is going to outperform a [$] cable, I laugh at. Cause it just stupid too even say.I have been using and repairing equipment for years, and I know what works good and what doesn't. Take it from me, Monster cables cost big because there is just not many that can compete with them. Plus you get lifetime warranties with all Monster cables. Try getting that with your 2 dollar cable from the dollar store...lolWhat great about these cables is I never have to worry about them delivering the best sound and/or picture. I got nothing bad to say about these cables other than an occasional coupon to be given to customers or sale would be nice from time to time.

I purchased this at [...] on July 2, 2010 for [$]. They had some sale going on and didn't realize it until the clerk rung it up at the register. It wasn't posted on the shelves about any type of sale and I had to double check my receipt to make sure I was charged for an M1000.Anyways, I use this cord to primarily hook up my PS3 to HDTV and hasn't failed on me. This is my second M1000 and both have been great. What I like most about these is the build quality. The wires are nicely shielded and the ends feel nice and sturdy when you're handling them. I've used the standard 1000 and I noticed no performance difference between the M1000 and the standard 1000, the build quality was worth the upgrade.I don't really have any CON's about the M1000 except the cord is kinda stiff. It felt awkward during set-up and trying to route the cord the way I wanted, but, very very minor, not even an issue.

Comments about M1000 HDTV HDMI Cable:
I have several Monster products and they have stood the test of time. The problem isn't with the quality, the problem is with the price. I'm not going to sit here telling people I'm an astronaut or whatever, I'm simply saying that I tend to buy the best and expect to get every bit of performance out of my purchases possible. I said I have several Monster products and it is true. All of them I bought before the internet became what it is today and I realized the err of my ways. The highest standard for HDMI is the recently ratified 1.4 but no products currently use it and there are few 1.4 cables currently available (but you can buy one of the few that are available for around $10). Currently, the highest standard used by most components is 1.3 category 2 which allows for Deep Color, xvYCC, Auto lip-sync, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, and Updated list of CEC commands (if you don't know what any of those are, google it). I have all 1.3 category 2 cables and they cost me around $2 (no, that's not a typo). If a cable goes, which has never happened, I have spares. I could have 50 or 75 spares and still spend less than Monster. Don't waste your money.

Comments about M1000 HDTV HDMI Cable:
This is for the people that are easily persuaded by marketing gimmicks. Rule of thumb--risk of decreasing signal strenght outside of 30 ft. of cable. And don't get hung about other cables that offer a lifetime guarantee, protecting you in case your cables are technologically obsolete in the future. If in a few years there are consumer video products that output higher-than-1080p video signals (an admittedly unlikely scenario), you can always buy another cheap $10 cable online that can handle more data. And you've still saved yourself $30 over that $50 cable in the store.
Audio is the only minor improvement when using these cables.
| Sound | Noise Level (dB) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Whisper | 30 | Very quiet |
| Quiet Office | 50-60 | Comfortable hearing levels are under 60 dB |
| Vacuum Cleaner, Hair Dryer | 70 | Intrusive; interferes with telephone conversations |
| Food Blender | 85-90 | 85 dB is the level at which hearing damage (8 hrs.) begins |
| Garbage Truck, Cement Mixer | 100 | No more than 15 minutes of unprotected exposure recommended for sounds between 90-100 dB |
| Power Saw, Drill/Jackhammer | 110 | Regular exposure to sound over 100 dB of more than 1 minute risks permanent hearing loss |
| Rock Concerts (varies) | 110-140 | Threshold of pain begins around 125dB |
