MONSTER TEAMS UP WITH GENAUDIO to INCORPORATE BREAKTHROUGH AstoundSound® 3D Spatial AUDIO TECHNOLOGY IN THE Gamebox™ MIX AMP AND PROCESSOR FOR “MVP CARBON BY MONSTER® HEADPHONES”

World’s First Combination of Monster® High Definition Headphone Surround (HDHS) - AstoundSound® Delivers Unprecedented and Immersive Gaming Experience

Las Vegas, NV, January 7, 2013 – When Monster, the world leader in high-performance personal audio, wanted to ensure that its new EA SPORTS MVP Carbon by Monster® headphone (SRP: $269.95), jointly developed with EA SPORTS, a division of Electronic Arts Inc., would provide users with a new and unprecedented level of immersive sonic gameplay, the company teamed up with GenAudio, a leading multi-dimensional 3D audio software technology provider, to incorporate its patented AstoundSound spatial audio technology in the Gamebox™ mix amplifier and processor, included with the EA SPORTS MVP Carbon by Monster® headphone.

The EA SPORTS MVP Carbon by Monster® is the world’s first headphone to feature Monster® HDHS (High Definition Headphone Surround), a surround processing method that delivers the most realistic, high definition headphone sound experience for gaming, music and movies.  Powered by GenAudio’s proprietary AstoundSound 3D audio software technology, in the Gamebox™ mix amplifier and processor, the EA SPORTS MVP Carbon by Monster® headphone lets gamers enjoy a sonic experience that goes beyond conventional 5.1 surround sound, with an audio soundfield that delivers pinpoint accuracy and the rich sonic details needed to give gamers the most realistic sense of space and dimension so they can immerse themselves more deeply in all their games. The leading-edge Gamebox™multi-platform mix amp offers seamless compatibility with PCs, Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Wii™ and WiiU™.

The First Truly Accurate Surround Sound Experience in A Gaming Headphone
The collaboration between Monster and GenAudio dates back to Head Monster Noel Lee’s studio mastering of Monster Music® titles in Monster® High Definition Headphone Surround (HDHS) - AstoundSound.  These titles were the first truly accurate 2-channel surround music experience mixes specifically geared for headphone users and designed to reproduce music precisely as the artist intended it to be heard.

Notes Mr. Lee:  "We wanted to apply our acclaimed HDHS technology in the creation of an ultimate gaming headphone, and to ensure we could maximize its effectiveness for the gaming arena.  We worked with GenAudio to incorporate AstoundSound, which by far surpasses any other spatial audio technology we tested, in the Gamebox™ mix amplifier and processor. The limitations of two headphone ‘speakers’ firing directly into a listener’s ears have always been a challenge for game developers to overcome, and powering our HDHS through AstoundSound ultimately achieves the very best possible result, far outperforming traditional ‘virtual’ headphone surround sound technologies, which lose cohesion in voices, accuracy and detail.  The utilization of Monster® HDHS and AstoundSound in the Gamebox™ multi-platform mix amp provides unprecedented 360 degree realism with intense visceral impact and detail, for an experience never before realized in a gaming headset.”

Creating a Complete Sphere of Immersive Sound

GenAudio’s AstoundSound technology is based on more than 24 years of R&D into how the human brain localizes a sound source in 3D space. Beyond working with existing audio delivery formats for 3D movies, television and gaming, AstoundSound, during professional audio post-production, enables the authoring and/or creation of content that incorporates accurate horizontal panning (azimuth), vertical placement (height), incredible depth perception and movement of sound sources over time. This can be used to create a complete sphere of sound that can easily make audio perception come from above and below as well as from the front, behind and to the sides making it difficult for the listener to distinguish the difference between what is real and what is virtual. GenAudio's AstoundSound 3D spatial audio technology and unique audio DSP software parameter tuning tools provided the EA SPORTS MVP Carbon by Monster® headphone designers with a way to create a product with the ability to play any audio mix (from a stereo or multichannel audio source) without being limited by the two-speaker limitation of headphones. A major advantage over competing spatial audio technology, AstoundSound also has no tone colorization and audio remains in-phase when processing is turned on, thereby creating a natural “spherical soundscape”.  In addition, the center channel imaging or low-end (bass) audio information are not compromised.

Unique Creative Partnership for Brand New Type of Gaming Headphone

The unique alliance between Monster and EA SPORTS results in a new type of headphone that gives gamers the edge they need to play hours without fatigue, totally immerse themselves in all the action, and significantly increases game player reaction time.  It will be available in both white and black versions at retailers worldwide and www.monsterproducts.com beginning in March  2013 to exclusive launch partners.
