Whether fronting his own band or Van Halen, Sammy Hagar has made his mark in the rock world since the mid-1980s. stayed with Van Halen longer than David Lee , who he replaced as lead singer (Live Aid was his first gig with the band!), helping the group top the charts through the late 1980s and early 1990s. Before replacing David Lee Roth as Van Halen's lead singer he was making a name for himself as a solo artist and also paid his dues as lead vocalist and rhythm in the mid-1970s hard rock band Montrose.
While Sammy was with Van Halen, they had three straight No. 1 albums: 5150 (1986), OU812 (1988) For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991). But Hagar is no commercial slouch himself, charting high with his solo efforts Three Lock Box (1983), No. 17; I Never Said Goodbye (1987), No. 14; Marching to Mars (1997), No. 18; Red Voodoo (1999), No. 22.
Hagar has been a Famous Monster for well over a decade. "The first time I got turned onto Monster Cable was back when I was doing the Red Voodoo record (1999), and some engineer rewired everything with Monster Cable - the mikes, our guitars the speaker cords, you know everything. And man, it was awesome, and I've never changed since then. I'm a cord guy. When you don't have Monster, to me it's the difference between using a cord or going wireless. I don't like wireless. Monster to me is like having 100% of what sound you got. It's plain and simple. Monster Cable is the best cable."
