Joey Tang
Being one of the Hong Kong most well-known guitarist celebrities and composer for pop songs and television commercials; Joey has started his performance and recording as lead guitarist and vocalist in local band group "Tai Chi" since 1980's. He is frequently invited to be band leader in local concerts and world music tours. His knowledge in music and experience in performing and recording has made him to be one of the best producer and session guitar player (production) in town.
- He is recently appointed as Deputy Head of Guitar Department, Baron School of Music.
- In 1985, "Tai Chi" was awarded a grand prix in "Carlsberg Pop Music Festival & Carlsberg Music Expression".
- In 1986, "Tai Chi" released their first hit single "Red Mobile", then "Maze" in 1987.
- In 1988, "Tai Chi" was awarded "The Best Group" in Top 10 Chinese Gold Songs Award organized by Radio Television Hong Kong.
- In 1991, "Tai Chi" invited to perform in "Asia Pop Music Festival" in Japan
- In 1995, "Tai Chi" traveled to Beijing and recorded their 10th album, "Utopia", which was released in the same year.
- In 1998, Joey starts his solo career. Recorded and released his first solo album "A Thousand Kisses"; most tunes from this album were recorded in the U.S.
- During 200-2003, released 2 more solo albums and invited to compose "We Shall Over Come" Ð the motivational song in combating SARS.
- With over 20 years experience in performing in concerts and recordings, Joey is highly acclaimed by industry insiders and frequently invited to be band leader in various local concerts and world music tours. His works include Faye Wong, Alan Tam, and Eason Chan.
