Aerosmith's lead guitarist Joe Perry has lived a privileged life as a cornerstone of one of rock's most enduring bands. Like any musician who's spent some time in a band setting, Perry occasionally feels the need to strike out on his own. The last time he felt the urge, Joe was up for a Grammy, Best Rock Instrumental for "Mercy" from his solo record "Joe Perry." Unfortunately, Perry didn't win a Grammy this past February; instead it went to Les Paul, arguably the grandfather of the modern electric guitar.
Perry takes his Monster Studio Pro 1000 cable everywhere he plays, including recording and performing live concerts with Aerosmith, whose own studio Pandora's Box is wired throughout with Monster Cable.
A no-frills guitarist, Perry's signal chain is simple: "I like to have the signal path as short, direct and analog as possible, so quite often, I just plug a guitar into an amp with a 15-ft. Monster Cable," says Perry. "I don't want an average sound, so it's really hard for me to sacrifice any tone." Since Perry's begun using Monster products, that's not an issue.
