Intense, moody, heavy, all these terms can be used to describe Filter's unique combination of metal and ironic pop sensibility through the past decade. Filter's debut album, Short Bus, released on Reprise in 1995, became a surprise hit, thanks to the MTV and alternative radio hit "Hey Man, Nice Shot"; by the end of the summer, the album had reached gold status. A few more, well-received albums followed, and the band promises that it's working on new material for a future release.
In the meanwhile, Filter's leader, Richard Patrick, is also fronting a new supergroup, Army of Anyone. Patrick is joined in the new band by Stone Temple Pilots' guitarist and bassist, Dean and Robert DeLeo and drummer Ray Luzier, the band is presently recording its debut album for Columbia Records. Bob Ezrin will be producing the album, which is expected for release later in 2006.
Since the start of the new millennium, Filter toured incessantly with very little time off. The one constant was that their rigs were always wired by Monster. You can be sure that when Army of Anyone hits the road or Filter returns from its sabbatical, Monster will be there too.
