EWFEarth, Wind & Fire were one of the most musically accomplished, critically acclaimed and commercially popular funk bands of the 1970s, and their influence and musical genius as a live act and recording concern continues to this day. Conceived by drummer, bandleader, songwriter, kalimba player, and occasional vocalist Maurice White, EWF's musical vision used funk as its foundation, but also incorporated jazz, smooth soul, gospel, pop, rock & roll, psychedelia, blues, folk, African music, and, later on, disco.

The extremely prolific band since 1971 has charted 25 albums, including coming in at No. 1 on Billboard's pop album charts in 1974 with Open Our Eyes. Its latest 2005 release, Illumination, reached No. 32 on Billboard's pop album charts and No. 8 in 2006 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.

Bass PlayingEarth, Wind & Fire's long relationship with Monster Cable was on full display January 7, 2003 when it was the talent for Monster's annual concert at the Consumer Electronics Show, one of the world's biggest trade shows. After playing one of its biggest hits, "Shining Star," the band beckoned Noel Lee, The Head Monster to the stage. Noel, the man who made the whole evening possible, presented EWF with a Monsterous Lifetime Achievement Award: a towering 24k gold contact connector complete with inscription from Noel to the band.
