Guns N’ Roses' signature sound was created in large part by lead guitarist Slash's unmistakable guitar tone, in much the same way that Led Zeppelin would not have existed without Jimmy Page.

Slash's passion for music ignited upon hearing Aerosmith’s Rocks at age 14. Soon after, his grandma gave him his first guitar and he began taking lessons. After honing his chops in the LA music scene, he was asked by Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin to join the newly formed Guns N’ Roses. Their debut album Appetite for Destruction and the single Sweet Child O’ Mine, both hit No, 1 on the charts in 1987 and have gone on to sell 28 million copies worldwide. GNR’s follow-up albums GNR Lies and Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 also enjoyed massive success. Slash officially left GNR in 1996, but has had a skyrocketing career since including two platinum albums and a GRAMMY for 2005’s Slither by his band, Velvet Revolver.

Slash has continued to have a fulfilling music career beyond Guns N’ Roses. His band Slash’s Snakepit released It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere sold over 1 million copies and garnered critical success. He also formed a blues rock cover band Slash’s Blues Ball. In 2010 Slash released his self-titled solo album, which debuted at no. 3 on the charts. The star studded effort featured collaborations with Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Chris Cornell, Adam Levine, Kid Rock and Iggy Pop.
